French side Lille have secured a loan deal for Ajax forward Chuba Akpom, including an option to buy, beating off competition from Fiorentina and Sunderland. The 29-year-old striker has opted for a move to Ligue 1, hoping to revive his form after a challenging spell in the Netherlands.
Akpom, who joined Ajax from Middlesbrough in 2023, struggled for consistent game time but remains a highly regarded attacking option. Lille’s push for European qualification played a key role in convincing him to make the switch.
With the deal finalized, Akpom now looks to make his mark in France.
