Fifth Edition of Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership Launched
The Nasser International Forum has announced the launch of the fifth edition of the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership under the theme: “Egypt and the United Nations: 80 Years Representing the Global South.” This year’s program, held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, will welcome 150 young global leaders from diverse executive and influential backgrounds.
Hassan Ghazaly, Founder of the Nasser International Forum, emphasized that this theme was chosen to highlight Egypt’s historic role as a founding member of the United Nations in 1945 and its unwavering commitment to advocating for the Global South. Egypt has long been at the forefront of international justice, sustainable development, and diplomatic engagement, shaping policies that amplify the voices of developing nations.
“Egypt has not only played a key role in drafting the UN Charter but has also championed decolonization and self-determination across Africa and Asia,” Ghazaly stated. “From facilitating the representation of national leaders at the UN General Assembly to driving sustainable development initiatives, Egypt has remained a steadfast pillar of South-South cooperation.”
Launched in 2019, the Nasser Fellowship was originally conceived as an African-focused youth leadership program during Egypt’s chairmanship of the African Union. Since then, it has expanded globally, with participants from Asia, Australia, Latin America, and Europe while maintaining Africa as its foundation. With the backing of President El-Sisi in its second edition and beyond, the fellowship has evolved into a premier platform for shaping the next generation of global leaders.
As Egypt marks 80 years of partnership with the UN, the Nasser Fellowship continues to reinforce its commitment to international leadership and the advancement of the Global South.
