Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA delivered a crippling blow to the terrorist network of notorious bandit leader Bello Turji. Key figures in Turji’s hierarchy, including his second-in-command Aminu Kanawa, were neutralized in a series of operations spanning Sokoto and Zamfara States.
Among those killed were Dosso, Turji’s younger brother, and Danbokolo, a trusted ally, both of whom sustained fatal injuries during the onslaught. Troops also eliminated senior commanders, including Abu Dan Shehu, Jabbi Dogo, Dan Kane, Basiru Yellow, Kabiru Gebe, Bello Buba, and Dan Inna Kahon-Saniya-Yafi-Bahaushe.
In addition, over 24 terrorists attempting to flee were neutralized in Gebe and Isa LGAs of Sokoto State, and Gidan Rijiya in Shinkafi LGA of Zamfara State. Suleiman, a key loyalist to the late Halilu Sububu, was also killed while leading reinforcements to support Turji’s embattled enclave at Fakai high ground.
This operation marks a significant blow to Turji’s network, notorious for terrorizing Zurmi, Shinkafi, Isa, and Sabon Birni LGAs. The death of his top lieutenants is expected to destabilize their operations and diminish their capacity for future attacks.
Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, reaffirmed the military’s commitment to eradicating terrorism in the Northwest, ensuring safety and security for all citizens.
The fight continues, with troops maintaining relentless pressure to dismantle the remnants of this violent network.
