The All Progressives Congress APC in Zamfara State has commended the Nigerian military and other security agencies for their unwavering commitment to eradicating banditry in the northwest region.
The party expressed its gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for empowering the military to execute the ongoing operations under the leadership of the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle. The APC described the recent elimination of key bandit figures, including the son and brother of notorious leaders Bello Turji and Adamu Alero, as landmark achievements.
The military operation, Fansan Yamma, launched last year in Sokoto by Dr. Matawalle and Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Gwabi Musa, has seen significant success, including the neutralization of infamous bandit leader Halilu Sububu and his group.
In a bold offensive, Bello Turji’s camps were recently dismantled, resulting in the elimination of his son and several close associates. These victories, the APC noted, have bolstered public confidence in the military’s efforts to restore peace.
The party urged continued support for the armed forces, including providing credible intelligence to track down remaining criminal elements, their sponsors, and informants.
“With President Tinubu’s 2025 declaration to end banditry taking effect in the year’s first month, the days of these notorious kingpins are numbered,” the statement read.
The APC called on citizens to remain united in supporting the military, praying for their continued success in defending the nation.
For peace to prevail, Zamfara and the northwest must remain resolute in standing against the enemies of the land.
