Katsina Mourns Veteran Journalist Lawal Sa’idu Funtua

Katsina State lost a media icon today as veteran journalist Lawal Sa’idu Funtua passed away after a prolonged illness. He was 58 years old.

Funtua, a towering figure in journalism, was a two-term Chairman of the Katsina Correspondents’ Chapel and played a pivotal role in shaping the media landscape in the state. His illustrious career included stints with Katsina State Radio Service, Today, Leadership, and Peoples Daily newspapers, as well as DITV Broadcast. He was also the founder of the online media platform Blue Ink.

The late journalist is survived by two wives, nine children, and several grandchildren. His burial is scheduled for 2 p.m. today in his hometown, Funtua.

Funtua’s legacy of excellence and dedication to the profession will be remembered as an inspiration to both seasoned journalists and aspiring media practitioners.
