KANKARA GENERAL HOSPITAL UNDER SIEGE: 2 INJURED, 3 KIDNAPPED AS POLICE LAUNCH MANHUNT

Katsina State was thrown into shock on January 14, 2025, as armed bandits attacked Kankara General Hospital at about 8:20 PM. The attackers, wielding AK-47 rifles, stormed the hospital, firing sporadically, in an apparent mission of terror.

Responding swiftly to a distress call, officers from Kankara Divisional Police Headquarters engaged the assailants in a fierce gun battle, successfully thwarting a full-scale assault on the facility.

Despite police intervention, the attack left two individuals injured: Dr. Murtala Saleh, 30, sustained a gunshot wound to his right thigh and Kamala Suleiman, 20, suffered a gunshot injury to the knee.Both victims are currently receiving medical care and are reported to be in stable condition.

Tragically, three individuals were abducted by the bandits. Efforts are underway to secure their safe release and bring the culprits to justice.

In response, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, PSC+, condemned the attack, describing it as a senseless assault on healthcare workers and the sanctity of medical facilities. He has ordered the deployment of additional security operatives to the area and intensified the manhunt for the perpetrators.

The Katsina State Police Command reassures the public that all resources are being mobilized to restore safety and prevent further attacks. Updates on this developing situation will be provided as investigations continue.
