The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has sounded the alarm over the vulnerability of Nigeria’s national electricity grid to frequent collapses. Speaking on Monday, Adelabu revealed that a critical transmission line in the Northern region remains unrepaired due to persistent insecurity, further exacerbating the grid’s fragility.
“The unrepaired line is a major link in our transmission network, and its current state significantly heightens the risk of grid instability,” Adelabu stated.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to resolving the issue but noted that security challenges in the affected region have delayed intervention efforts.
This revelation comes amid ongoing calls for improved power supply nationwide, with stakeholders urging swift action to safeguard the grid and enhance energy reliability.
