The Nigerian military, under Operation Fansan Yamma, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force CJTF, successfully repelled a midnight retaliatory attack by bandits in Bilbis, Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara State.

The attack, which occurred after the death of notorious bandit leader Kachalla Jafaru, was thwarted in a fierce battle lasting from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Jafaru, notorious for his expertise in kidnappings and terrorizing Hayin Gada and Kunchin Kalgo communities, was killed during a military encounter last week. He was a sibling to the infamous Ado Aliero, a top target of the Nigerian military.

Intelligence sources revealed that Fulani bandits, angered by Jafaru’s death, mobilized forces to strike Bilbis in revenge. However, security operatives, acting on a tip-off, launched a decisive counter-operation, neutralizing several bandits and injuring others. The troops also recovered motorcycles and weapons used in the assault.

Eyewitnesses reported that security operatives transported five bandits’ bodies on motorcycles and one in a vehicle, along with other confiscated items.

Jafaru’s reign of terror, marked by kidnappings and extortion, had long disrupted peace in Tsafe. His demise is hailed as a significant milestone in efforts to restore stability in Zamfara State.
