EFCC Nabs Four Chinese, 101 Nigerians Over Internet Fraud in Abuja

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC has arrested four Chinese nationals and 101 Nigerians for suspected involvement in internet fraud. The operation, conducted on Thursday, January 9, 2025, targeted a business apartment in the Gudu area of Abuja.

The suspects, comprising 67 males and 38 females, were allegedly running a hotel review job scam that defrauded victims and hotels across Europe and other regions. Among those apprehended were four Chinese nationals, further raising the international dimension of the scheme.

EFCC operatives confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will face prosecution upon completion of the inquiry. The arrests mark another significant step in the commission’s crackdown on cybercrime and corruption in Nigeria.
