Troops from Operation Hadarin Daji executed a daring rescue mission, liberating two infants and five women who had been held captive in Kuyambana Forest, Zamfara State, since January 2024.
The victims, abducted from Marange Village in Niger State, endured over two months of captivity before the vigilant troops intervened.
The successful operation was a culmination of persistent pressure on the bandits, leading to the victims’ escape on March 13, 2024. Following their rescue, the victims underwent debriefing and were handed over to the appropriate authorities for reunion with their families.
Major General GM Mutkut, commanding the 8 Division Sokoto, commended the troops for their tactical prowess and urged them to sustain their efforts until peace is fully restored in the region.
