In a bold move to safeguard public resources, the Zamfara State Government has reclaimed the Stonehenge Hotel, a prime state-owned property in Abuja’s Central Business District. The recovery comes after shocking revelations that the hotel was leased for 14 years without a single payment to the state.
Governor Dauda Lawal, spearheading the asset recovery initiative, described the move as part of his administration’s commitment to reclaiming and effectively utilizing misappropriated government assets.
“This rescue mission is about accountability and ensuring public assets serve the people of Zamfara,” the governor’s office said in a statement on Monday.
The reclaimed property is expected to generate substantial revenue, potentially running into hundreds of millions of naira, boosting the state’s coffers and supporting development projects.
