In a bold move to revitalize Nigeria’s power sector, the Federal Government has approved a whopping N263 billion for the construction of new power substations across the country. The decision, announced during a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, is part of a broader strategy to improve electricity distribution, enhance industrial growth, and power homes more efficiently.
The approved funds will cater to modernizing existing infrastructure and building state-of-the-art substations to reduce grid overload and frequent power outages. Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, emphasized that the initiative is a key step toward President Tinibu’s vision of a stable, reliable energy sector.
“This investment underscores our commitment to ending the electricity challenges Nigerians face daily,” Adelabu said.
The project is expected to create thousands of jobs and stimulate economic activities across the six geopolitical zones. Analysts say this move could be a game-changer for businesses and households long plagued by unreliable electricity.
