In a remarkable display of generosity and commitment to education, Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, the President of the MAAUN Group of Universities, has donated $100,000 to the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU). The donation was announced during the university’s 33rd convocation ceremony at its main campus in Mbale, where Professor Gwarzo was a special guest of honour.
The Islamic University in Uganda, established in 1988, has long been a pillar of higher education in East Africa, and Professor Gwarzo’s support further underscores its importance. During the convocation, the university honoured Professor Gwarzo with an Award of Excellence for his unwavering commitment and contributions to its growth and development.
Speaking during the award presentation, H.E. Prof. Dr. Muhammad A.S.E.A. Altabtabaei, the Council Chairman of IUIU from the State of Kuwait, expressed deep appreciation for Gwarzo’s dedication to the university’s development. “I was informed by the university management of your contributions. On behalf of the council, I wish to extend our heartfelt appreciation,” he remarked.

On behalf of the students and staff of IUIU, we express our sincere appreciation and pray to Allah SWT to bless your wealth and multiply your good deeds,” Gyagenda said.

As the founder of Maryam Abacha American University of Niger, Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, Franco-British International University in Kaduna, and the Canadian University of Nigeria in Abuja, he has championed access to quality education across Africa.
