. . . It’s reckless, insensitive, inhuman

On Tuesday, 10th of December, 2024, the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, was at the State House of Assembly to present 2025 Appropriation Bill to the state law makers. But the constitutional exercise and the governor suffered anti-climax.
It was human and, indeed, a mark of humility for the governor or any top -ranking public office holder for that matter to quickly offer his apology for mixing up figures and, this he did. Such is the level – headed display from Okpebholo.
However, it was bad news for Okpebholo government that is being shamed and buffeted by it’s critics and others. It was even held in certain quarters that Okpebholo’s mistake was a sign of incompetence.
There is so much to make out of what happened during the budget presentation. The first is that Okpebholo’s detractors are reckless. It’s disgraceful and, indeed, a mark of insensitivity for anyone, including a governor, to be dragged for struggling with numbers on his first visit to the the hallow chambers of legislators with battery of television cameras trimmed on him or her.
His ordeal since this fateful Tuesday morning also spelt mischief. Yet, many condoned it.
Apparently because Okpebholo is a governor.
For the umpteenth time the inhumanity of Chris Nehikhare and company towards Okpebholo reared its ugly head. This time around, as before now, they spared no effort to belittle and diminish into nothingness, Governor Okpebholo. And as usual, they are inhuman and wicked, in it’s wake.
The current onslaught on Okpebholo over mixed-up figures in the financial estimates is insensitive as it comes, even if it is politically correct naivety.
Before we go a line further, let it be stated that we condemn in totality the power thirsty insanity and senselessness in whatever guise the former commissioner for information in Edo State, Chris Nehikhare, and the erstwhile special adviser on communication, strategy and media affairs to the immediate past governor, Crusoe Osagie, who have turned the spokesman of the former ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and media adviser to the former governor, Godwin Obaseki respectively.
Their actions are in no manner or rationalization acceptable to the citizens of Edo State and humanity. In fact, our assumptions are clear on this: all blackmailers and their assists are thugs and do not belong to civilization. And this is without prejudice to whatever else their retainers or enthusiasts claim.
Nehikhare, the day may come but certainly, that day has not come, when inhumanity and wickedness will be elevated more than the fairness, kindness and humanity of Okpebholo.
Be that as it may, we cannot turn a blind eye as a few people just take special joy in burying the truth and or approve the burying of the truth, under the guise of politics.
It has been observed that Nehikhare and his company waste no time at every turn in seeking to debase and counterfeit the truth about happenings in Edo under Governor Okpebholo.
Apparently desirous to belittle the governor and his experience into nothingness, the PDP goons have not relented in ensuring that the challenges of Okpebholo went viral using various strategies.
The inhumanity towards the governor is uncalled for. Of course, nothing can justify the bestiality against fellow man or woman.
Okpebholo may struggle to pronounce complex figures but not to the extent that the merit and competence he has demonstrated should be sacrificed on the altar of mathematical accuracy or wizardry.
As cogent as the opinion if Okpebholo’s critics may appear to be, we persistently averred – and correctly too – that Okpebholo is talented, competent and credible leader that is creatively and successfully piloting the affairs of Edo State.
Furthermore, we posit that only a negligible number of current or previous governors in the country have accomplished more than Okpebholo in his first month in office.
