In a decisive move, the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) have jointly declared a 7-day warning strike.
The action aims to demand the release of four months’ worth of unpaid salaries for their members, a lingering issue stemming from the nationwide strike in 2022.
The decision was reached by the two unions’ joint action committee during a weekend meeting held in Akure.
The unions emphasize the critical need for immediate attention to address the financial concerns of their members and ensure their welfare.
The warning strike is seen as a strategic measure to convey the urgency of resolving the salary payment issue.
