Renowned political commentator and former presidential aide, Garba Shehu, has discredited a fabricated story published by online outlet Naija247news. The misleading headline, “Garba Shehu Challenges Northern Governors on Tinubu’s Tax Reforms, Cites Structural Flaws”, is falsely attributed to him and accompanied by his portrait.
In a sharp rebuttal, Shehu clarified: “Whoever knows me knows I am not a tax expert. I do not live or work in Kaduna. This story is pure fiction. Please disregard it.”
This incident adds to the growing concern about fake news in Nigeria, as prominent figures are increasingly targeted with fabricated reports. Shehu urged the public to verify news from credible sources before believing or sharing.
