Kaduna-based Christian cleric, Bishop John Dickson of the International Friendship Church Kakuri Cathedral, has voiced strong concerns over the new tax reform bills proposed by President Ahmed Bola Tinibu’s administration.

Speaking during a church service, Bishop Dickson warned that the proposed reforms could create a financial vacuum in northern states and deepen economic hardship for the region’s residents. He called on federal lawmakers to reject the bills to protect the region from what he described as “total economic collapse.”

Commending lawmakers opposing the reforms, the bishop urged them to remain steadfast in defending the interests of the masses. “The proposed reforms, as they stand, risk worsening the already dire economic conditions of ordinary Nigerians,” he said.

Bishop Dickson criticized the administration’s policies, lamenting their impact on the nation’s economy since Tinibu took office. He highlighted the struggles of Nigerians battling skyrocketing commodity prices and a faltering transportation system, calling for policies that prioritize economic growth and stability.

He concluded by urging Nigerians to seek divine intervention for a brighter economic future, stressing the need for policies that serve the collective good of the nation.
