Former Vice President Tiku Abubakar has joined the heated debate on the Tax Reform Bills, emphasizing the need for a fair and transparent fiscal system. In a statement on his X account, Tiku stressed that Nigerians demand a fiscal framework rooted in justice, fairness, and equity.

He cautioned against reforms that might deepen regional disparities, urging the National Assembly (NASS) to prioritize the collective interests of Nigerians. “The public hearing must foster inclusive participation from all stakeholders, including civil society, traditional institutions, and economic experts,” he stated.

Tiku also called on the NASS to revisit and disclose the National Economic Council’s resolutions to ensure alignment with the nation’s economic goals. “Transparency and objectivity are critical to building public trust and achieving good governance,” he added.

With the nation watching, Tiku urged lawmakers to craft reforms that unify and uplift, rather than divide. “The interests of the vast majority must guide the outcome of these Bills,” he concluded.

As the debate continues, all eyes remain on the NASS to deliver reforms that resonate with the aspirations of Nigerians.
