KSITM Targets Excellence: Governing Council Unveils Transformative Initiatives

The Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management (KSITM) is set to soar to new heights following landmark resolutions made by its Governing Council. Addressing the press at the KSITM Auditorium, the Chairman of the Council, Engr. Muttagba Rabe Darma, outlined a bold vision to position the institute among the top polytechnics in Nigeria within two years.

Key highlights of the Council’s decisions include:

1. International Conferences: KSITM will host its first International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in STEM Education in April 2025, in collaboration with Alqalam University and KATDICT. Plans are underway for two global academic conferences per session to cement KSITM’s reputation as an intellectual hub.

2. New Directorate of Skills Development: The institute will ensure all students graduate with at least four skills—technical and soft—through the newly established Directorate of Skills Development and Community Services. Partnerships with state and federal bodies will support this initiative.

3. Leadership Appointments: With the rector position becoming vacant on December 12, Dr. Hindatu Salisu Abubakar will serve as Acting Rector. Advertisements for the substantive rector and bursar positions will follow strict NBTE guidelines.

4. Staff Welfare: Promotions for 33 staff members (17 academic, 16 non-academic) and confirmations for eight non-teaching staff emphasize KSITM’s commitment to a motivated workforce.

5. Financial Sustainability: A committee led by Prof. Muktar El Kasim will spearhead partnerships to bolster the institute’s financial resilience and fund strategic projects.

6. Governance Reforms: Comprehensive Standing Orders were adopted to enhance transparency, accountability, and effective decision-making.

Engr. Darma stressed the importance of collective effort in realizing the institute’s ambitious goals. “Together, we will transform KSITM into a beacon of excellence in Northern Nigeria and beyond,” he concluded.
