The Theatre Commander of Operation Fansan Yamma, Major General Oluyinka Olalekan Soyele, has called for stronger local collaboration to bolster efforts against terrorism and banditry in Nigeria’s North West. The appeal came during a strategic engagement with the Zamfara State chapter of the Nigerian Legion, led by Chairman Aminu Ladan Mada, in Gusau on Wednesday.
Major General Soyele highlighted the operation’s recent successes, including enhanced security along the Gusau-Funtua highway, as evidence of improved coordination following the restructuring of Operations Hadarin Daji and Whirl Punch into Operation Fansan Yamma. He emphasized that local intelligence and community support remain pivotal to sustaining the momentum against insurgents.
Chairman Mada commended the military’s efforts, extending condolences on the passing of former Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja. Expressing confidence in General Soyele’s leadership, Mada reaffirmed the Legion’s commitment to assisting Operation Fansan Yamma in creating a secure environment. He applauded the Defense Headquarters for their decisive move to streamline operations, enabling more effective resource deployment and collaboration.
This partnership underscores a renewed determination to restore peace in the North West region.
