Katsina State has unveiled an ambitious 2025 budget, with a groundbreaking proposal to allocate over 70% to capital projects—the highest in the state’s history. This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Bello Kagara, during a media briefing on the budget breakdown.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda had earlier presented the budget to the State House of Assembly, emphasizing infrastructure and development. Alhaji Kagara revealed that funding will come from various sources, including:
Statutory Allocation: ₦63.4 billion
Value Added Tax (VAT): ₦85.9 billion
Access Crude: ₦25 billion
FAAC Special Allocation: ₦142.6 billion
Aids and Grants: ₦120.5 billion
Local Government Contributions: ₦6 billion
He also noted an opening balance of ₦20 billion, ensuring services commence before full budget implementation.
In a related development, the state government has factored in the new ₦70,000 federal minimum wage.
According to State Accountant General Alhaji Nura Tela, this adjustment led to a substantial allocation of over ₦51.6 billion for personnel costs.
This historic budget demonstrates Katsina’s commitment to development and workforce welfare as it gears up for transformative projects in 2025.
