Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, has officially approved a new minimum wage of N70,000 for state civil servants, effective December 2024.
The decision, outlined in a memo signed by the governor, follows recommendations from the state’s Minimum Wage Committee. The committee also proposed reconciling local government finances to ensure a seamless transition to the new wage structure for local government employees.
With the reconciliation process nearing completion, local government workers are expected to join the new salary structure soon. Governor Buni has urged all civil servants to reciprocate this gesture by committing to improved service delivery across the state.
This approval reinforces Governor Buni’s dedication to workers’ welfare and signals a brighter future for the state’s workforce.
