Former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, has stirred political discourse with his latest remarks on what he terms an attempt by the Lagos axis to dominate the North.
Speaking on his X account, Kwankwaso declared, “Today, we can see very clearly that there is a lot of effort from the Lagos axis to colonize this part (the North) of the country. Today, Lagos will not allow us to choose our emir.”
The statement has ignited debates across the political spectrum, with many interpreting it as a warning against perceived external interference in Northern affairs. Critics, however, see the remarks as divisive and aimed at stoking regional tensions.
Kwankwaso’s comments come amid a charged political climate, with analysts noting increasing friction over control and influence between Nigeria’s regions. The North’s response to this claim could shape the national political narrative in the days ahead.
