As part of efforts towards enrolling more vulnerable people into the Yobe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency’s informal sector programme, the Health Reform Foundation of Nigeria (HERFON) in collaboration with the Yobe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (YSCHMA) has embarked on a resource mobilization and sensitisation visits to  local government chairmen across the 17 local government areas of the state.

In a press released by Suleiman Gambo Yusuf Bakoro the information and public relations officer of the YSCHMA said,  HERFON is one of the technical partners supporting the Yobe state health sector as part of its efforts to provide technical assistance in developing the state health sector for a better and improved healthcare service delivery for the interest of the citizens of the state.

The team led by the state chairman of HERFON, Alhaji Kalli Lawan on Thursday, the 14th of November 2024 held an engagement meeting with the ALGON Chairman of Yobe State, Hon. Bukar Adamu who also double as the chairman of Damaturu local government area at his office in Damaturu local government secretariat.

Responding, the ALGON chairman described YSCHMA’s healthcare contributory initiative as a welcome development that will go a long way in addressing many health challenges of the citizens of the state, especially the vulnerable population.

The chairman said that the measure will reduce the unnecessary out of pocket expenditure spent on medications and medical consumables.

He further stressed that with the establishment of YSCHMA for implementing and promoting healthcare financing, the people of Yobe state  now enjoyed affordable healthcare services at a premium of N12,500 for the whole year.

Hon. Bukar Adamu used the forum and commended the Yobe State government under the able leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni for the various reforms in the health sector describing the HERFON effort as a clarion call that needs the support of all and sundry.

The ALGON chairman therefore promised to enroll 55 vulnerable people from the eleven political wards of Damaturu local government area for the first batch of this year into the YSCHMA’s informal sector programme.

Hon. Bukar Adamu assured the team of his commitments and continuous support pledging to liaise with all the local government chairmen for possible enrollment of vulnerable population in their respective areas for the YSCHMA informal sector programme.
