In a dramatic turn of events, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has issued a scathing response to Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s recent visit to Governor Alex Otti of Abia State.
The NWC, in an emergency meeting at Rockview Hotel, Apapa, Lagos, labeled Kwankwaso’s visit as a “deceptive maneuver” following a High Court ruling in Abia that shifted party control to the Board of Trustees.
Kwankwaso, who was expelled from the NNPP along with his Kwankwasiya group, allegedly misrepresented himself and his entourage as party executives.
NWC clarified that Kwankwaso holds no official role in the NNPP, warning Governor Otti to avoid involvement in internal party matters orchestrated by Kwankwaso.
The NNPP’s National Publicity Secretary, Abdulsalam Abdulrazaq, condemned Kwankwaso’s actions, accusing him of attempting to destabilize the party and gain control.
“If Senator Kwankwaso has grievances, he should address them legally—not with political stunts,” Abdulrazaq stated.
The Abia High Court ruling, which compels INEC to recognize the NNPP’s Board of Trustees led by Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, underscores Kwankwaso’s detachment from party leadership, according to the NWC.
As far as the NNPP is concerned, Kwankwaso and his allies are “gone for good,” with the party regaining “peace and stability.”
