The commissioner was expressing his satisfaction Sunday shortly after supervising the exercise in some areas of the local governments.

He asserted that he was particularly gladdened about the level of acceptability the exercise enjoys from people of the areas which was the principal reason of success of the campaign therein, acknowledging efforts of the health personnel in the local governments for ensuring eligible children are immunized.

The commissioner appreciated the councils’ leaderships for superb commitments in making sure that planning and coordination are followed as designed at the state level including attending evening review meetings.

He said, “It is a delight to find out that the Gaya local government chairman has been going round to ensure all eligible children in his area were not excluded. Additionally, he was donating drugs and consumables to health facilities in his local government for improved health service delivery.

“Moreover, the vice chairman of Wudil local government was also seen visiting nooks and crannies of the area to ensure success of the exercise.”

Dr. Labaran, who was represented by the Director Public Health and Disease Control of the Ministry, Dr. Ibrahim Aliyu Gano, hailed the indefatigability of district heads of the local governments for giving fatherly support and cooperation in addition to attending evening review meetings themselves of their reps as the case may be.

He called on parents to continue bringing out their eligible children to immunization centres or allow house to house vaccinators to vaccinate the children in order to get rid of the circulating variant polio virus resurfacing in some parts of the state, hence the need for putting heads together to confront the menace.

The commissioner then charged health educators and social mobilization officers in the areas to intensify sensitization so that people understand the need to give the vaccinators maximum cooperation in order to save their children against the dreaded disease.

Dr. Labaran commended the giant strides of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for prioritizing health as one of the cardinal principles of his administration which has already started yielding fruitful results.
