Amnesty to Tinibu: Free Detained Minors Now

In a powerful message on X, Amnesty International has called out Nigerian authorities for detaining minors since August for protesting against hunger and corruption.

The organization described the detentions as one of the most severe suppressions of freedom of assembly in recent memory.

“Putting minors through these horrifying detentions is a grave attempt to silence young voices,” the statement reads.

Amnesty International is urging President Bola Tinibu to act swiftly and unconditionally release all detained minors, underscoring that protest is a fundamental right, especially in the face of issues like hunger and corruption.
