UYO — A new chapter unfolded at the Command Headquarters in Uyo as the Akwa Ibom State Police Command decorated 613 Inspectors of Police newly promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police II (ASP II), in a ceremony marked by pride, honour and renewed commitment to service.
The event was presided over by Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, and represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Finance and Administration), Egbe Preye.
CP Azare congratulated the officers for successfully meeting the stringent requirements for advancement, describing their elevation as both a reward for diligence and a divine opportunity for greater service.
“Promotion comes with higher responsibility and accountability,” he charged, urging the new ASPs to uphold professionalism, strict adherence to the rule of law, and the ethical standards of the Nigeria Police Force.
Speaking on behalf of the promotees, ASP George Michael expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, and the Police Service Commission for finding them worthy. He also praised CP Azare for his leadership and mentorship.
ASP Michael pledged that the newly promoted officers would serve as worthy ambassadors of the Force, promising integrity, discipline, and dedication in protecting lives and property across the state.
The ceremony drew members of the Command’s management team, senior officers, families and well-wishers — all witnessing a milestone that signals renewed strength within the ranks of the Akwa Ibom Police.
