The, NEDC, has supported about 558 youths who undergo skill acquisition training with kits, Making charcoals easier machines and starter packs.
During Flagging off the handing over of the items in Damaturu, the state Coordinator, NEDC Dr Ali Ibrahim, said the commission is targeting those who already have the experience in the business to help them improve their skills and expand their businesses respectively.
Dr Ali Ibrahim disclosed that the items will be distributed in different batches as scheduled.
“According to him, the current batch we have are the 5 beneficiaries who attended training in Bauchi, 20 beneficiaries who attended training in Damaturu of Chacol and Briquette production, as well as the 20 beneficiaries who attended training on solar panels training in Maiduguri respectively.”
The coordinator explained that the beneficiaries were selected across the entire 17 Local Government Areas of the state, after going through the interview and screening that is conducted by the NEDC and Officers from state ministry of environment and others.
He further commended the Yobe State Government for providing an enabling environment for the commission to be able to discharge its mandate and assured that, the NEDC will support the state government to enable them to achieves it’s aim and objectives of climate change mitigation within the state.
Speaking during the flagging up of the handing over of the items to the beneficiaries, the state Commissioner of the Ministry of Environment Sidi Karasuwa, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Tonga Betera, commended NEDC for the such interventions.
He expressed the government’s readiness to always work in collaboration with the commission for the benefits of the entire people of the state and north east atlarge.
The coordinator, urged the beneficiaries of the programme to use with the items received and to also share the knowledge acquired with their colleagues who are not opportuned to attend the training for the benefit of the government and the people of the state atlarge.
