400 Tapes Leak – Finance Boss Baltasar Engonga Axed

In a shocking scandal shaking Equatorial Guinea, Baltasar Ebang Engonga, Director General of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF), has been dismissed after over 400 explicit videos surfaced online, allegedly showing him involved with wives of prominent officials, including relatives and high-ranking government figures.

Dubbed the “Workout Videos” scandal, the tapes reportedly feature Engonga in compromising scenes with high-profile women, such as his brother’s wife, the wife of the vice president, and even the spouse of the inspector general of police. Public outcry surged as the videos circulated, with calls for action against the powerful finance chief.

The government acted swiftly, citing Engonga’s “misconduct in office” and “social behavior incompatible with public duties.” The decision was formalized in Decree No. 118/2024, issued on November 4, officially ending the career of the influential finance figure, who is also the son of Baltasar Engonga Edjo, president of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC).

Engonga’s ousting marks one of Equatorial Guinea’s most public scandals in recent years, with citizens and officials reeling over the details.
