A political support group, Tinubu/Dikko Assured (TDA) 2027, has empowered no fewer than 1,040 small-scale traders across the three senatorial districts of Katsina State.
The initiative is aimed at boosting grassroots economic activities across the state’s 34 local government areas.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony of the programme on Saturday in Daura, Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Radda, commended the gesture, describing it as a welcome development and an unforgettable moment for the beneficiaries.
The governor, who was represented by the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Alhaji Nasir Yahya-Daura, said collaborative efforts between government institutions and stakeholders were crucial for sustainable development.
He noted that the intervention would go a long way in easing the challenges faced by the beneficiaries and strengthening public confidence in responsive leadership.
Radda further stated that the initiative reflected a deep sense of compassion and commitment to the welfare of the people, stressing that such acts of goodwill promote unity and social stability within the state.
The governor urged other well-meaning individuals and organisations to emulate the gesture for the collective good of society.
He assured that his administration would continue to support initiatives geared towards improving the living conditions of citizens, particularly the most vulnerable in the state.
Earlier, the Chairman of Tinubu/Dikko Assured (TDA) 2027, Umar Ahmad-Zayyad, said the empowerment programme targeted petty traders, artisans, and women-led businesses.
According to him, each beneficiary would receive ₦30,000 as financial support to strengthen their livelihoods and promote self-reliance.
He explained that beneficiaries were drawn from the three senatorial zones—Katsina North, Katsina Central, and Katsina South, ensuring fair and inclusive representation across the state.
He added that the initiative was designed to complement government efforts aimed at reducing poverty.
“This empowerment programme is not about politics alone; it is about improving lives and supporting small businesses that form the backbone of our local economy,” he said.
Ahmad-Zayyad also revealed plans to extend the exercise to other areas, including Katsina and Funtua zones, noting that when traders are supported, families and communities grow stronger.
Some of the beneficiaries, who expressed appreciation for the gesture, described the intervention as timely, saying the support would help them expand their businesses and improve their means of livelihood.
