2027 Political Permutations: Governor Bala Lastly Pitches Tent With ADC

Borno State Government

By; Mohammed Kawu, Bauchi

Having exhausted all avenues for reconciliation among party warring factions, Chairman of PDP Governors Forum and Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed Tuesday in Bauchi pitched tent with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The Governor’s likely defection to the opposition party comes on the wheels of inviting him to the party following the ADC delegation to that effect which converged in Bauchi led by the former SGF, Babachir David Lawal who represented the national chairman, Senator David Mark.

To this end, Governor Bala disclosed that two committees have already been constituted, one at the national level in Abuja and another in Bauchi to assess the political direction of his faction while exploring options across different political parties for alignment.

Governor Bala unveiled his defection plan while receiving the ADC’s high-level delegation that comprised, among others, former minister, Senator Lawal Batagarawa, Senator Tunde Ogbeha, and Senator Sadiq ‘Yar-Adua.

Senator Bala Mohammed explained that remaining in a political environment where they are not wanted is no longer tenable, hence the need to align with a viable opposition political party, the likes of the ADC as a viable platform.

The Bauchi Governor who described the Nigeria’s formidable opposition party the ADC as his preferred political party said however that consultations and negotiations are still ongoing to ensure a well-informed decision that he did not make mistake.

“We left all our options on the ground, including APC itself, but certainly we have discovered that we cannot be where we are not wanted, we have to find a place within the opposition, that why our fate and political destiny is taking us to ADC”.

“But really we told them we are amenable to joining them in certain things and conditions, and negotiations are concluded, as well as other political parties that we are looking, but as at now, though we have not concluded, our preferred destination is the ADC”.

Mohammed who also described the ADC as very enduring, luring and more acceptable platform by the the people that are talking to him so far, state, “As of now, I think our preferred destination, that we have not concluded in a manner that we have a deepening stakeholding and collaboration, so that we don’t make mistake”.

But because I am managing two constituencies, Bauchi and the federation, we will try if we are doing something to do well. If we are doing well, we have to come together with all the party’s interests in the PDP at the national and sub national level, and that’s why our discussions have taken long”.

Senator Bala Mohammed expressed grateful to the ADC for recognition, saying, “When you are facing a very serious political problem like ours, and somebody will offer a hand, we are very modest and our humility said that we are nothing until we go to the field”.

“We believe in winning elections, and elections are done at the polling units and won at the polling units. And we are not scared of anybody, we do all we can do to be able to go, but self preservation, tapism and amiable political participation,  but it is not working”.

Governor Bala Mohammed resorted, “Therefore we have to face the challenges of this existial solution that is being provided to us by the ADC. I thank the national chairman of the ADC for offering this opportunity to us, definitely we would not allow it to sleep out of our hands, considering the pedgre and antecedents of those that have been sent”.

Senator Bala disclosed that already two committees have been constituted, one at the national level in Abuja and another in Bauchi to assess the political direction of his camp, including exploring options across different political parties.

He concluded, “We have define a place within the opposition, that’s where our fate and political destiny is taking us to. You will here a firm commitment from us by Thursday when we will have met in Abuja”.

Speaking earlier, the leader of the ADC delegation, Engr. Babachir David Lawal said that are in Bauchi at the instance of the national chairman, Senator David Mark, the national chairman of African Democratic Congress.

“Senator Mark sent us here because he is fully aware that the coming battle between us in 2027 to elect new people to lead Nigeria can only be successful if all the various segments of the country that have good intentions and goodwill to us Nigerians are able to unite, stand and resist the pending disaster that is waiting for us in 2027”.

Engr Babachir Lawal cautioned that should Nigerians make mistake and allow the present government to continue post 2027, Nigeria will be no more, “But then we would probably be parking people in starvation in trailers who can afford medical services”.

According to him, when that happens every state in the federation will get insurgency to the level that the killer insurgents will get from bedroom to bedroom harassing, killing and maiming people.

It is with this in mind, Lawal explained, that the ADC national chairman sent them to speak to the Kauran Bauchi to join ADC, whom he adjudged, as a dodged fighter,  warrior, fearless, as his energy will also contribute to what the ADC already had.

So, that’s why we are here, and we had fruitful discussions in a very friendly and brotherly manner, we understand the task before every Nigerian, and the task before Kauran Bauchi as a Governor that he will just join ADC, will be one of our field commanders”.

Engr Babachir Lawal expressed optimism that subsequent discussions between the duo will be concluded with the perceived massive registration of people of Bauchi as it did happened in Kano last Monday.

Lawal concluded, “We know that the entry of Kauran Bauchi into ADC will frighten this government to the extent that there might be lawless in what they intend to do to rig the 2027 elections. We have the confidence that if Kaura join us, we will have battle tested, battle ready people to confront this government and victory will be ours”.
