2027: Only One Man Standing? Akpabio Declares Tinubu Sole Candidate for All Nigerians

In a bold and headline-grabbing statement on the floor of the Senate, Senate President Godswill Akpabio has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should not only be the sole presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027—but the sole candidate for the entire nation.

“I want to move that not only would President Tinubu be the sole candidate for the presidency in 2027, but he would also be the sole candidate for the whole Nigerian population,” Akpabio proclaimed. “Because all other political parties have been turned into shreds. Nigerians are saying that because you have done a difficult job well, it’s time for us to reward you by sending you back to the presidency.”

The comment, which has sparked intense debate across political and civic spaces, comes amid growing speculation about the 2027 election and Tinubu’s re-election bid. Critics are calling the statement “undemocratic,” while supporters are hailing it as “a testament to Tinubu’s transformational leadership.”

Whether this was mere political rhetoric or a signal of things to come, one thing is clear—2027 just got a lot more interesting.
