2024 WASA: Governor Zulum Hails Nigerian Army as Pillar of Discipline, Security

The Nigerian Army’s Headquarters Theatre Command and 7 Division hosted the 2024 West African Social Activities (WASA) celebration at Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri, on Saturday, January 18, 2024.

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, represented by Borno State Head of Service, Barrister Malam Fannami, commended the military for their relentless efforts in combating terrorism and securing peace in the state.

“Despite ongoing challenges, the dedication of our troops has significantly weakened Boko Haram insurgents, with thousands of them surrendering. We remain hopeful for the complete restoration of peace in Borno and the Northeast,” Fannami stated.

The event celebrated the army’s rich cultural heritage, with traditional dances, masquerades, and rituals symbolizing unity and resilience.

Traditional performances like the ‘Zage’ dancers, bonfire lighting, and tug-of-war competitions captivated attendees, emphasizing Nigeria’s diverse cultural heritage.
