100 Women in Yobe Trained on AI, Monetization, Business Growth

Rider Option Standard Vision, in collaboration with Maaruf Foundation, successfully concluded a two-day intensive training on Basic Digital Literacy, Artificial Intelligence Tools, Data Optimization, Monetization, and Business Scalability for 100 women in Damaturu, Yobe State. The training, themed “Women in AI,” took place at the ICT Centre, Yobe State University, from February 5th to 6th, 2025.

The event was officially declared open by Hajiya Fatsuma Hassan Yusuf, Director of Women Affairs, representing the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs. The Honourable Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management was also represented by Deputy Director of the Ministry while Her Excellency Hafsat Kollere Buni, First Lady of Yobe State and Chairperson and Founder Maaruf Foundation, was represented at the event by Alhaji Mukhtar Abubakar.

In his welcome address, Dr. Grema Kyari the Chief Executive Officer of Rider Option emphasized that the training was organized in partnership with Maaruf Foundation, which brought the initiative to Yobe State to benefit its citizens, particularly women. He highlighted the crucial role of women as nation-builders and encouraged participants to maximize the opportunity for personal and professional growth.
He also commended the efforts of the Founder Maaruf Foundation Her Excellency Hafsat Kollere Buni for her unwavering support towards upskilling women in Yobe State

The representative of Maaruf Foundation reiterated the foundation’s commitment to education and empowerment, expressing confidence that the training would have a lasting impact on the participants, given the unique and vital role of women in society.

While declaring the training open, Hajiya Fatsuma Hassan Yusuf commended Her Excellency, the First Lady of Yobe State and Chairperson of Maaruf Foundation, for her dedication to empowering women in Yobe State. She praised the initiative as a significant step in integrating women into the artificial intelligence and digital economy sectors, urging participants to seize this opportunity to enhance their skills and contribute to economic growth.

During the training, participants engaged in practical, hands-on sessions using the ICT Centre facilities of Yobe State University. A significant highlight of the program was the presentation of certificates to participants, the establishment of the Women in AI Community in Yobe State, and the launch of a Google Classroom platform to support a three-month incubation program. This initiative will provide ongoing mentorship, online education, and tutorials to ensure the continuous growth and development of the trained women in AI and the digital economy.
