In a bold show of integrity and professionalism, officers of the Katsina State Police Command have arrested two suspected car thieves and turned down a ₦1 million bribe offered in a desperate attempt to avoid justice.
The arrest occurred on April 11, 2025, around 3:00 PM during a routine patrol along Birnin Kuka village in Mashi Local Government Area. Officers from Border Patrol Zone 4 flagged down a green Toyota Corolla LE, driven by 26-year-old Mubarak Kabir and 27-year-old Adamu Hashim, both residents of Kurna Quarters, Fagge LGA, Kano State.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle was reportedly stolen from the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Upon confrontation, the suspects offered the patrol team ₦1 million in cash—an offer that was swiftly rejected by the officers.
The patrol team arrested the suspects on the spot and recovered the stolen vehicle, the bribe money, three mobile phones, one power bank, and a bunch of keys as exhibits. The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue to trace possible links to a wider car theft ring.
Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, psc, fdc, commended the officers for their patriotism and unwavering dedication to duty. He praised them for upholding the values of the Nigeria Police Force and assured the public of the Command’s continued resolve to safeguard lives and property with honor and respect for human rights.
“This is a shining example of integrity in action,” CP Shehu remarked.
